DGT authorises large-scale testing of the advanced assistant

Spain's traffic regulator DGT (Dirección General de Tráfico) has authorised large-scale testing of an advanced driver-assistance system on public roads. This is a testing regime, not permission for owners to use the system in everyday driving.

Full deployment in Spain is tied to a pan-European decision: until the EU establishes a harmonised approach to recognising type approval for such systems, the testing remains a phase for gathering data and verification rather than a final clearance for use.

For the availability of FSD (Supervised) in Spain this is an intermediate step: authorising trials shows the regulator's willingness to work with the technology on national roads, but it is not equivalent to approving it for normal use. Its further status will depend on pan-European procedures.
