MIIT certifies FSD (Supervised) for the China market

China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) has certified FSD (Supervised) within the framework of national requirements for intelligent connected vehicles. In China, driver-assistance and "smart" driving systems are governed by a distinct regulatory track: a feature's admission to the market is tied to compliance with national safety standards.

The regulatory context is shaped in particular by a mandatory national standard on safety requirements for combined driving-assistance systems, officially released by MIIT. That standard formalises the requirements for systems of this class and provides the basis for admitting the corresponding features.

China is one of Tesla's largest markets, and the deployment of FSD (Supervised) here carries its own specifics compared with other countries, including requirements for processing and storing data within the country. As in other markets, FSD (Supervised) remains a driver-assistance system: the person behind the wheel retains full responsibility for control and must supervise the drive at all times.
