Tesla has announced the launch of FSD (Supervised) in China. The official confirmation came on 21 May 2026: the company reported that the system is compatible with the Chinese region, and FSD (Supervised) went on sale at 64,000 yuan as a one-time purchase. China joined the list of markets where the system is available, alongside the United States, Canada, Australia, South Korea and the Netherlands.
The launch is limited in scope and is not a nationwide rollout to all eligible vehicles. Wider deployment is constrained by regulatory requirements, above all Chinese rules on data security and data localisation, which had previously led Tesla to delay the system and to build local infrastructure to process vehicle telemetry domestically. The company's chief financial officer stated that Tesla is working closely with Chinese regulators with the goal of obtaining comprehensive approval for FSD in China by the third quarter of 2026.
For owners in China, this means that purchasing the feature has become possible, but full functional access and broad coverage depend on clearing the final stages of regulatory review. Until comprehensive approval is granted, the deployment remains selective, with a fuller opening targeted for the third quarter of 2026.
